MEET OUR CLUB OFFICIALS FOR 2026
CLUB CAPTAIN 2026

              MR ALASTAIR BEASLEY

On behalf of everyone here at Hawkstone park Golf Club I would like to extend a very warm welcome.
I feel extremely privileged and honoured to have been chosen to represent the club as Club Captain for 2026. Along with Madam lady president Wendy, Lady Captain Liz, Senior Captain Mark, Junior Captain Nathan and all other committee members we aim to make this year better than ever for our members, guests and visitors.
I first joined the club in 2006 at the grand age of 13! Although a frequent visitor as an infant where my dad Mike Beasley showed me the ropes and taught me to play on our 9-hole academy course.  As a Junior I have seen first had all the hard work the club puts into supporting our Junior section. In fact, Hawkstone park has developed numerous junior and young adults into becoming PGA professionals. One of Which Ashley Chesters who has played on the European our countless times. Ashley and his family are a true credit to the club who put in a huge amount of work.
Hawkstone park is a beautifully designed Golfing complex which has two 18-hole golf courses. The Hawkstone course and the Championship course, also known as the windmill course. Both of which have had the magical touch and design of James Braid.
The Hawkstone course is a more naturally sculpted design where the 1st tee is in front of the hotel and that is where the true challenge begins. A course with naturally rolling fairways, multiple dog legs and real parkland setting. Once you reach the mid-way point the views are nothing short of spectacular as you begin to play amongst the follies. On a clear day you may even see the Peregrine falcons!
The championship course is a PGA styled course which has its fair share of water, wider fairways and bunkers and of played on the blue tees has an increased length a little shy of 7000 yards. As you can imagine with the course designed by Former Ryder cup captain Brian Huggett this course is a true test of golf where you may be tempted with risk vs reward.
But that is not all we offer! Whether you enjoy food and drink before or after a game of golf we have the “Lyle’s bar “named after Sandy Lyle a two-time major wining champion. The Open in 1985 and The Masters in 1988. The club was also home to his father Alex. Lyle’s bar has excellent food and drink, a pool table, darts board and a outdoor viewing area to watch the 18th hole on the Hawkstone course.
If you are interested in Joining Hawkstone Park please give us a call or drop in and come and see us, We’re a friendly bunch.
Whether you are already a member, thinking of joining or simply visiting us I hope you enjoy your experience and most importantly… Have fun!

Club Captain 2026

PRESIDENT 2025-2026

                MRS WENDY SIMPSON
I am very honoured to be President of HPGC for 2025/26.
I have been a member for over 30 years and Lady Captain in 2001 and 2021 and served on many committees within our club.
My family has had a huge influence on HP in lots of different ways and hopefully we can hold our past traditions but not forgetting to move forward and build on the long-term success of the club.
We have very welcoming sections within the club those being men’s, ladies, seniors, and juniors where we have competitive and fun competitions throughout the year.
Our house and social team organise many events through the year from 9-hole socials to our annual gala dinner.
A lot of our members give their free time to make the club run smoothly which people don’t see in the background so if anyone has any spare time to help on the various committees please come forward.
Let us hope the sun shines for us all this year and we have fun playing our favourite sport.

LADY CAPTAIN 2025

               MRS LIZ DUTTON
I am honored to be Lady Captain of Hawkstone Park Golf Club for the year 2026/2027.

Being a member of our ladies’ section is not just about golf we are a community.  We offer a warm welcome to ladies of all abilities, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned golfer. Throughout the year we raise money for charity and this year we have two, Cancer Research UK and the On Course Foundation, both very worthy causes.

Our main Ladies competition day is on a Monday, and we all get together after for a drink, bite to eat and a chat.  If you are unable to play on a Monday we offer a Sunday as an alternative day.

For the competitive golfer we have 2 teams that play in the Shropshire Handicap League, 1 team in the Mini League (which is a great introduction for those ladies with a higher handicap or new to golf wanting to gain experience in League golf), plus this year I am very excited to announce we are also entering a Scratch team.  We run Ladies Open & Mixed Open competitions each year and details of these can be found on this website.  We organize friendly matches with other local clubs which is a great way to play other courses and meet new people.  The ladies’ section also has an annual away stay which is a good chance for us all to be together in one place at the same time & have some fun.

We have a vibrant House & Social Committee who create events throughout the year which bring us all together as a club.  Calendar events such as bingo, axe throwing, bowling, Burns night to name a few, as well as a 9 Hole Social held once a month in the summer on a Friday night with fun competitions, food & prizes.  The Green Keepers Challenge is very interesting!!!

I came to this club 10 years ago as a “New to Golf” lady having never played before and both myself & my non golf playing partner were welcomed and quickly immersed into the club.  My partner and I have formed what we hope are lifelong friendships.   If you are looking to be part of a golfing community where there is something for everyone please get in touch, Hawkstone Park is one of the most welcoming clubs in Shropshire.

SENIORS CAPTAIN 2026

                 MR MARK BATES
I am honoured to take the role of Seniors Captain for 2026.
My golfing journey started about 35 years ago driven by a need for a new competitive sport and inspired by Sandy Lyle. Amazing to then join Hawkstone Park in 2018 following the closure of Brookfield GC. I immediately felt at home here thanks to the welcome from all members and latterly the Seniors when I started playing on Tuesday’s.

Although I strive to keep improving my golf I find the social aspect of golf equally as important and I think myself lucky to have made so many friends at Hawkstone with which I enjoy great camaraderie. I hope in 2026 to welcome more members to the Seniors ranks, meet and play with as many of you as possible. Hopefully many of you will join me in the regular friendlies against other local clubs to show them how welcoming and great a club Hawkstone is.

JUNIOR CAPTAIN 2026

                 MR NATHAN HAMER
I only started playing golf two years ago after being introduced to the game by my Dad, Matthew, and we still play together regularly. What really made me enjoy golf so much, though, was how friendly and welcoming everyone at Hawkstone Park Golf Club has been since I first joined.

I currently play off a handicap of 9.3, take part in competitions as often as I can, and have been lucky enough to represent the club, including winning the Junior Club Championship in 2025. I’m really proud to have been chosen as Junior Club Captain this year — and it definitely gives me a good excuse to play even more golf!

Hawkstone Park has a great junior section, and one of my main aims for 2026 is to help it keep growing and to make sure all juniors feel welcome and supported at the club. I’m also hoping to keep improving my game and lowering my handicap, but most of all I’m looking forward to a fun year of golf with such a friendly club.
